Things to know before traveling to Phong Nha Ke Bang
Phong Nha Ke Bang is located in Bo Trach, about 50 km northwest of Dong Hoi, Quang Binh.
Most of the vehicles only take you to Dong Hoi city center. Then you need to continue to Phong Nha Ke Bang by taking a taxi, private car, or bus.

Hanoi to Phong Nha Train

Taking a train from Hanoi to Dong Hoi is one of the safest means of transportation for your trip to Phong Nha.
Vietnam Railways offers daily trains from Hanoi to Dong Hoi, and the railway distance is about 522 km from Hanoi station to Dong Hoi station.
The journey takes around 10 hours and 30 minutes to 11 hours, depending on the train.
From Hanoi, you should choose the train SE3, SE5, or SE7 that departs from Hanoi station in the evening and arrives at Dong Hoi station the following day, so you will have a full day exploring Phong Nha Ke Bang.

You will arrive directly at Phong Nha, so there’s no need to take any other transfer.
Tips
As the arrival time is quite early and the attractions in Phong Nha Ke Bang National Park open from 7 to 7:30 am, you should book a room or take a walk to see the sunrise.
