Da Lat Crazy House: A Wacky Adventure In Vietnam
The dreamy city of Da Lat Vietnam is famous for its cool climate, immense pine forest, and ancient villas with French architectural style. Among these villas, one might find themselves in awe and surprised with the unique architecture and mysterious beauty of The Crazy House, also known as Hang Nga Villa.

About Da Lat Crazy House
The Crazy House is located at No. 3, Huynh Thuc Khang Street, Ward 4, Da Lat city, Lam Dong province. It was built in 1990, and the area is about 2000 square meters.
The Crazy House is a project of architect Dang Viet Nga, the owner of this mansion.
From a young age, she studied in China and continued her High School in the Soviet Union.
She graduated from Moscow University of Architecture (1959 – 1965). From 1969-1972 she continued to study and obtained her doctorate in Russia.
Dang Viet Nga returned to Da Lat, lived and worked from 1983. She started the project in 1990, and it’s still in construction at present.

The best time to visit Da Lat is from October to March, as this is the dry season.
Specifically, the ideal time of the day to explore the Crazy House is from 8:30 am to 10 am and after 4 pm.

Best things to see at Da Lat Crazy House
1. The design
We were impressed with the design of the Dalat Crazy House. It’s extraordinary, wild, and fascinating.

One of this villa’s most exciting and unique features is its structure.
From the ceiling to the door, all were designed arbitrarily. The windows also have strange shapes and are placed in the protrusions of the oval wall.
Although the design does not follow any rules or patterns, it still offers a harmonious look.

2. The stairs
One of the experiences that we love at The Crazy House is going by the stairs. These spiral stairs lead to several areas and buildings of the House.
Although some parts of the stairs are quite challenging to move, it was still an exceptional experience.

3. The rooms at Da Lat Crazy House
Hang Nga Villa includes Tree Stump Hotel and Spider Web Castle, two tree trunks made of concrete.
The rooms here have unique and interesting names: Tiger, Bear, Eagle, Monkey, etc.

4. The sketches & stories
We found several sketches, designs, and life stories of the architect Dang Viet Nga.
There are many photos of hers taken in Russia, Vietnam, and many places that she’s been to. It’s like her museum!

5. The view
We also loved the panoramic view on the top of the building. From here, we could see the mountains and all of Da Lat.

6. The garden
Don’t miss your visit to the garden!
This beautiful garden houses a highly diverse flora system of Da Lat such as hydrangeas, chrysanthemums, butterfly petals, lily, carnations.
