Da Lat railway station history

Dalat Railway Station was built in 1932 and completed in 1938, in a plan to build Thap Cham – Da Lat railway line, connecting the highland city with the Hanoi – Saigon national railway in Phan Rang, Ninh Thuan.

This railway line is 84km long, with a total elevation of 1500m.

In 1972, this legendary railway was shut down due to the war. After that, people also removed the railway tracks to sell. Steam cars at that time were also sold to foreign countries.

Just like that, from a railway of nearly 100 km long, only a short part remains active, which is currently the section from Dalat Railway Station to Trai Mat Station.

Visiting Dalat Railway Station, most people go sightseeing or explore architecture. However, very few notice that the remaining electric locomotives are still used daily to take visitors from the central station to the Trai Mat area.

To experience this exciting activity, you should get to the ticket area and buy train tickets.

However, it must be enough from 20 guests or more to run the train. Please remember to contact the station in advance to see if there are enough people on the date and time you want to go.
