10 Best Things To Do In Nha Trang Vietnam You Can’t Miss

Are you planning to visit Nha Trang soon? What are the best things to do in Nha Trang, Vietnam?

From gorgeous offshore islands and sandy beaches to ancient mossy Cham temples, Nha Trang offers it all.

In this travel guide, I share my favorite things to do in Nha Trang and tips to plan the best of your trip there.

Enjoy the beaches

Nha Trang is home to several beautiful beaches.

My favorite one is Hon Chong beach, a quiet and peaceful beach located about 5 km North of the city center.

On the backdrop of Hon Chong beach is the image of majestic mountains, an immense sea, and faraway islands. Appearing in the distance are the fishing boats of local fishermen bobbing in the waves of the open ocean.

If you stay in the center, relaxing on Nha Trang central beach is also a good choice.

The central beach stretches about 7km along Tran Phu street with clear blue water and sunshine.

Try mudbath

Not only famous for its beautiful beaches but Nha Trang is also favored by nature with mineral resources.

With organic substances and many healing and beautifying effects, a mud bath is an excellent activity you can’t miss in Nha Trang.

You can try mudbath at the following places:

Have fun at VinWonders

VinWonders is an excellent destination to visit in Nha Trang.

It’s on the island just outside the city, and you can get there by taking a cable car.

The complex includes amusement parks, accommodation services with hotels, high-class resorts and first-class amenities, and entertainment areas.

I highly recommend spending a full day in Vinpearl land and trying all the games here.

Excellent games for adults include bungee jumping, free-falling towers, roller coasters, etc.

Also, there’s a children’s play area if you travel with kids.

Go island hopping

One of my favorite things to do in Nha Trang is island hopping

There are several islands outside of Nha Trang Bay, including Hon Tam island, Hon Tre Island, Hon Mun island, and Yen Island.

On a sunny day, hop on a boat to Hon Tam, a large island outside Nha Trang Bay.

It takes about 10 minutes by speedboat, and you can also combine your trip with other islands.

Here, you can decide to relax on the secluded beach or try outdoor activities such as parachutes or kayaking.

Visit Ponagar tower

Ponagar Tower is one of the heritages of the ancient Champa culture in Central Vietnam.

It was built thousands of years ago with many spiritual and religious meanings.

The tower consists of 4 floors with a total height of 23m, dedicated to Ponagar, the wife of Lord Shiva.

While Ponagar is only the largest main tower, you can find several others in the temple complex.

Visit Tu Van Pagoda

Tu Van Pagoda is the most unique temple I’ve ever visited in Vietnam.

This sacred spiritual destination attracts its visitors with unique architecture and natural scenery.

The most impressive sites are the Bao Tich tower and the 18 floors of hell.

Bao Tich Tower is made entirely of seashells and corals by the monks. After visiting the tower, head to the 18 floors of hell for a unique and terrifying experience.

I’ve visited several “hells” in different pagodas in Vietnam, but this one is the most fascinating and scary.

Visit Nha Trang Institute of Oceanography

Don’t forget to visit the Nha Trang Institute of Oceanography to join the journey to discover the rich undersea world.

National Oceanographic Museum exhibits and preserves more than 20,000 marine specimens.

It has five main areas:

  • Marine and mangrove aquarium
  • Large specimen exhibition
  • Artificial reef
  • Paracel Islands – Truong Sa sea resources
  • Marine biodiversity

We were especially impressed with their fossil collections and the humpback whale’s 18m-long skeleton.

See Nha Trang Stone Church

Located in the heart of the city center, Nha Trang Stone Church is a famous symbolic religious work in this coastal city.

The church opened in 1933 with a Gothic architectural style. It’s located on Bong mountain at an average height of 12m above the residential area.

Amid the bustling city, the stone church is like a quiet witness of time.

Visit Alexandre Yersin Museum

Yersin museum is another interesting place to visit in Nha Trang.

This museum is located in the same house where the French bacteriologist lived.

It was fascinating for us to see his laboratory equipment, original letters, photographs from his travels around Vietnam, and his personal belongings.

In 1891, Alexandre Yersin set his first step on the coast of Nha Trang.

Dr. Yersin had many significant contributions to Vietnam, including the discovery of Da Lat, the discovery of a plague bacterium, and research on agricultural methods and meteorological forecasting.
