Hon Tam Island Nha Trang Vietnam Travel Guide
Hon Tam island is one of the most beautiful islands in Nha Trang, Vietnam. This place is blessed with a pristine, charming beach and crystal clear water.
We visited Hon Tam island recently as a day trip from Nha Trang, and here are our tips.
When is the best time to visit Hon Tam island?
The climate in Hon Tam Nha Trang is relatively mild and favorable, similar to Nha Trang, so you can come here to visit at any time of the year. The temperature is about 27 to 34 degrees Celcius.
However, we suggest avoiding the rainy season, mainly from November to mid-December. Storms and heavy rains can affect your trip.
From March to September, Hon Tam enters the most beautiful period. Sunshine with gentle wind is ideal for your trip.
How to get to Hon Tam island?
Hon Tam island is located about 7 km from Nha Trang, so you should travel to Nha Trang first.
If you have a short time, you should fly to Cam Ranh airport from Hanoi, Da Nang, or Ho Chi Minh city, and then take a private airport transfer or bus to Nha Trang city.
We recommend using Vietnam Airlines and Bamboo Airways, as both airlines offer excellent services and depart on time, unlike VietJet Air.
If you’d like to experience train travel in Vietnam, a sleeper bed will be a good option.
Two ways to get to Hon Tam from Nha Trang
- Option 1: Sign up for the Hon Tam tour. It’s the easiest and best choice.
- Option 2: Rent a private boat to visit the island. However, this option is quite expensive so you should rent it with other passengers. Each speed boat can carry up to 25 guests and has about 20 trips and returns per day.
Things to do on Hon Tam Island Nha Trang
1. Visit Hon Tam beach
Hon Tam Beach has a poetic and charming beauty, not noisy and bustling like other places.
The coastline brings us an image of a soft white sand strip like a silk ribbon, and the clear blue water can charm anyone who sees it.
Our favorite moment on Hon Tam beach is walking on the beach, enjoying the taste of the salty sea breeze while listening to the murmuring waves.
You can also play water sports such as water motor, parachute, or kayak. The seawater here is very clear, so it’s an ideal place to watch coral or try Seawalk.
2. Try Mud Bath
Hon Tam mud bath is located in zone A on Hon Tam island – where you can see the panoramic view of Nha Trang Bay.
The whole area is based on the cliff, with a total area of 42,000 m2.
Visiting the area, we felt like stepping into the space of trees and waterfalls thanks to a different design. Everywhere was so green! We saw plants everywhere.
Getting to the mudbath area, we saw lots of mineral mud baths made from natural stone, hidden under the shade of green trees.
“There must be about a hundred of them” – we thought.
As we approached one of the baths, the employee opened the mud stream and let it fill the bath. We waited for about 5 minutes and then got in.
3. Relax at the Jacuzzi pool
After bathing, we continued to the pool. In front of up is an impressive view: a large mineral lake with an arched house design in the middle. From here, we could view Nha Trang Bay.

- Bring a personal bath towel, or you can borrow a free towel at Hon Tam, but a deposit is required to get the towels.
