If you’re searching for a breathtaking natural wonder, Ban Gioc Waterfall should be at the top of your list.
It’s right on the border with China, and it’s actually the largest waterfall in Asia and the fourth-largest cross-border fall in the world.
Imagine cascading waters framed by majestic mountains—it’s like watching white silk unfurl before your eyes.
For just $2, you can hop on a raft and get close enough to feel the mist on your face, which is honestly a magical experience.
If you’re lucky enough to be here during harvest time, the rice paddies surrounding the falls turn into a golden sea, making everything even more surreal.

- Best time to visit: September to October, when the rice fields turn vibrant yellow
- How to get there: Travel along TL 211 to Đàm Thuỷ, Trùng Khánh, Cao Bằng. Local buses or private tours from Cao Bang are great options.
Datanla Waterfall, Da Lat
Datanla Waterfall is the perfect mix of nature and adventure. Located just 7 km from Da Lat, it’s more than just a place to snap a few pictures.
The coaster ride through the forest is a blast—honestly, it’s one of the most fun things I did in Da Lat.
There’s rope climbing, kayaking, and if you want something more laid-back, the hiking trails around the falls are peaceful and beautiful.
It’s the kind of place where you can pick your own pace—go as fast or as slow as you like.

Pongour Waterfall, Lam Dong
Pongour Waterfall is often called a hidden gem, and it truly is.
About 50 km from Da Lat, its seven cascades are especially enchanting during the rainy season when the water is at its most powerful.
I love the path to the falls—lined with lush greenery, it makes for a peaceful walk, and I often find a spot to have a picnic along the way.
The rainy season is also the best time to capture photos because the cascades are just so dramatic and full of energy.

Elephant Waterfall, Da Lat
Elephant Waterfall (Thác Voi), about 30 km from Da Lat, has rock formations that look just like kneeling elephants—it’s amazing.
The waterfall itself is powerful and a little wild, but that’s part of its charm. After you’ve taken it all in, walk over to the nearby Linh An Pagoda.
It’s one of my favorite spots to relax—a giant Buddha statue stands watch over a garden filled with hydrangeas.

Dambri Waterfall, Lam Dong

The forest here is lush, the trees are ancient, and there’s even a fun slide ride that makes you feel like a kid again.
But if you’re after something quieter, rowing on the lake at the base of the waterfall is a lovely way to end the day.

Dray Nur Waterfall is a must-see if you find yourself in Vietnam’s Central Highlands.
It’s only about 25 km from Buon Me Thuot, but once you’re there, it feels like a different world.
The waterfall drops from a 30-meter-high cliff, and you can cross a wooden suspension bridge for one of the best views.
Walking through the nearby forest, with its towering ancient trees, makes you feel like you’re stepping back in time.
And if you’re up for it, taking a dip in the pools at the base of the falls is just the kind of invigorating experience that sticks with you.

Thuy Tien Waterfall, Dak Lak
Thuy Tien Waterfall is a beautiful hidden gem in Dak Lak, located about 7 km northeast of Tam Giang Commune in Krong Nang District.
The waterfall flows over three different levels, each offering a unique charm. The first level is gentle and calm, with water flowing softly through tree roots that look like swings.
The second level is where things get a bit more fun. It has rocky terraces that form small, shallow lakes—ideal for a quick dip.
The third level is the most dramatic, with water cascading into a wide, deep lake surrounded by lush jungle.
On the way to the waterfall, you’ll also pass through coffee fields and rubber plantations, adding to the picturesque atmosphere.
If you want to learn a bit more about the local culture, take a trip to the nearby Ede village—it’s a fantastic way to connect with the traditions of the area.

Just 45 km from Nha Trang, Yang Bay Waterfall is like stepping into a dream.
Originally an ancient forest, now it’s a serene retreat, standing 80 meters tall and surrounded by picturesque valleys.
The air is cool and refreshing, which makes exploring the three waterfalls in the Yang Bay area an absolute must.
I’d also recommend trying out the mud baths—it’s different and surprisingly fun. Hiking the forest trails or exploring the nearby caves adds a bit of adventure if you’re in the mood.

Ba Ho Waterfall
About 25 km north of Nha Trang city center, Ba Ho Waterfall is a beautiful spot where you can enjoy nature in its raw form.
Ba Ho, which means “three lakes,” is a series of three natural pools created by the stream flowing from Hon Son Mountain.
The hike through the forest to reach the lakes is well worth the effort, offering a peaceful escape.
Once there, you can swim in the cool water, relax by the lakes, or take in the wild scenery of the mountains and forest.
The first lake is the easiest to reach while getting to the second and third lakes requires a bit more climbing, which makes it perfect for those who like a bit of adventure.
You can also rent a bungalow or camp overnight if you want to extend your stay and soak in the tranquility.
There are also activities like water biking, kayaking, and more for those who want to add a bit of thrill to their visit.

- Best time to visit: Dry season for easier hiking and exploring the lakes
- How to get there: Take a motorbike or car along National Highway 1A north from Nha Trang. After about 20 km, turn left at Ninh Ich Commune Health Station, and follow the road for 4 km to reach the entrance.
May Waterfall, Thanh Hoa
May Waterfall (Thác May) is one of those spots that makes the journey worthwhile.
It’s about 100 km from Hanoi, deep in Muong village near Cuc Phuong National Park.
The route there is scenic, with little villages and lush green fields that make the drive an adventure in itself.
The waterfall is 100 meters tall, flowing down in nine cascades. Each tier forms a natural pool, perfect for cooling off when the summer heat gets intense.
I also love wandering through the nearby village—it’s a great way to get a taste of local life, and it makes you appreciate how connected everything feels here.

Khe Van Waterfall, Quang Ninh
Khe Van Waterfall, hidden away in the Binh Lieu district of Quang Ninh province, is the kind of place you go to when you want to escape the world.
The three-tiered waterfall is surrounded by untouched mountains and lush forests, and there’s a crystal-clear lake at its base.
I love just floating in the cool water and letting the world fade away for a bit.
This spot is perfect for a relaxing picnic too—pack some snacks, take a seat by the water, and enjoy the peace that comes with being far from the crowds.

- How to get there: Binh Lieu is best reached by car or motorbike from Quang Ninh province. The roads are scenic but can be winding.
Suoi Tranh Waterfall, Phu Quoc
Suoi Tranh Waterfall on Phu Quoc Island is small, but it has its own charm—perfect for a laid-back day.
The hike to the falls is easy and takes you through lush greenery that makes it feel like a mini-adventure.
Once there, take a swim in the rock pools or just relax on the rocks with a picnic.
