Tuyen Lam Lake is one of the most romantic places in Da Lat, Vietnam. We visited it every week while living in Da Lat and always had a pleasant time.

About Tuyen Lam lake

Tuyen Lam lake is an artificial freshwater lake with the largest area in Da Lat, Vietnam. It has an area of more than 350ha, and the depth is over 30m in some places. The lake provides water for the land at the foot of the Prenn waterfall (Duc Trong district) in the dry season.

Its attraction comes from the vast, peaceful space and poetic natural scenery. The lake is like a charming painting with the turquoise color of the water, the immense green of the pine hills, and the blue sky.

When visiting Tuyen Lam Lake, you can also combine your trip to Truc Lam Buddhist Monastery or Datanka waterfall.

You don’t need to buy tickets to visit the lake. However, there are tickets for renting boats or some outdoor activities.

Amongst these, Swiss-Belresort and Terracotta are the most famous.

Swiss-Belresort is a beautiful resort that resembles European beauty. The resort owns a quiet space surrounded by pine hills and large lawns. The highlight of this resort is the unique outdoor swimming pool area and the modern 18-hole golf course in Dalat.

Binh An Village is also an excellent choice for a beautiful stay. This resort is divided into two separate areas: a hotel area and a villa area with a harmonious architectural style between Western and Central Highlands styles.

Enjoy the scenery

With its majestic terrain, this charming lake is a great destination to visit, whether traveling solo or with a partner, friends, or family.

We enjoy sitting at the lake bank and enjoying the picturesque landscape. Also, we love seeing the sunset and walking around the lake area. It’s very refreshing and enjoyable.

Join boat tour

To enjoy the most of Tuyen Lam lake, you can also rent a boat or join boat tours.

The trip will take you around the quiet lakeside, picking strawberries by yourself on both sides of the lake. If you visit in autumn (from late August to November), you can see the maple leaves dye the sky red.

You can rent a boat with prices ranging from 300,000 to 500,000 VND/trip with a maximum capacity of 15 guests.


Besides riding a boat, you can also go kayaking around Tuyen Lam Lake.

It’s an excellent activity if you travel with your partner or friends. Imagine having romantic moments together on the quiet lake! Very nice, right?

Typically, kayaking starts at 8:30 am. You have the opportunity to familiarize yourself and practice your skills under the supervision of an instructor.

Visit the dam

Near the lake is a little dam, where you can have a small adventure!

Surrounding the dam is lush green forests, overgrown flowers, and plants. You can see patches of green moss covered with the color of time.

Also, the sound of water pouring on the torrential stone steps is peaceful and soothes the soul.

Conquer Pinhatt Peak

Not only famous for its peaceful lake surface, but the lake area also has the majestic Elephant Mountain cluster in which Pinhatt Peak is considered the highest and most mysterious peak.

Conquering Pinhatt Peak is a challenging journey, but it will definitely be a fantastic experience. The road to the top of the mountain is covered with grass and trees, and you can watch the colorful orchids and hear the cheerful birdsong and the mysterious sounds of the forest.

From the top of Pinhatt, you can enjoy a panoramic view of the vast Tuyen Lam Lake area and Da Lat city in the distance.

Note: Before the trip, you should prepare all your belongings and essential items such as food, water, and medicine.

Best cafes near Tuyen Lam lake

Near the lake are lovely cafes with beautiful lake views.

One of our favorite cafes is The Seen House. This place offers a quiet, gentle, and romantic atmosphere, suitable for couples, friend groups, and families. We also love the coffee there!

Food and restaurants

On the route to Tuyen Lam Lake, there are very few restaurants. In our experience, you should go to the city to eat better. You can also prepare some food and enjoy a picnic by the lake.

Best time to visit

The best time to visit Tuyen Lam Lake is in the dry season. At this time, the weather is clear, not too wet, and not too cold, which is very suitable for outdoor activities.

For the best experience, you should visit the lake in the early morning or the late afternoon after 3 pm.

How to get to Tuyen Lam lake

Tuyen Lam Lake is located in Ward 4, about 7km from the center of Da Lat city.

You can choose to go there by car or motorbike. In the city center, there are many places to rent a motorbike for a day at an affordable price. Traveling by motorbike will give you time initiative and offers excellent experiences when crossing the beautiful roads of Da Lat.

From the center of Da Lat city, it takes about 18 minutes to reach Tuyen lam Lake. The roads to the lake are winding mountain roads, so you should be more careful when driving.

From Da Lat market, you can follow one of two main routes:

  • Route 1: Da Lat Market – Nguyen Van Cu – Ba Trieu – Trieu Viet Vuong – Tran Thanh Tong – Truc Lam Monastery – Tuyen Lam.
  • Route 2: Da Lat Market – Tran Quoc Toan – Ho Tung Mau – National Highway 20 – Prenn Pass – Truc Lam Monastery – Tuyen Lam.

Please note that Prenn pass is very slippery on rainy days, so you should choose route one instead.

You can also take a cable car from Robin hill to Truc Lam Monastery and walk down to the lake area. We love traveling by cable car as we can see beautiful pine forests and lake views from above.
