The Rikitiki is a characterful place right on the river in the centre of Kampot. The 2 bed room was spacious with a high ceiling and local timber features that are beautiful and it was a treat to stay there. The aircon works well with the fan and keeps cool enough without feeling cold at night. Breakfast upstairs in the timber traditional style looking over the river is not to be missed.

Quaint little laid back town with really nice French...
Quaint little laid back town with really nice French colonial architecture. The promenade on the riverside is beautifully lined with trees. A lot of nature and amazing views of the river and the hills. A nice short trip getaway from the hustle & bustle of Phnom Penh.
Day one - Spectacular sunset in front of the river while sipping a drink.
Day two - Enjoyed the tour I took of the pepper plantation, the cave, salt fields and Kep seaside. I ended the day with a sumptuous Portuguese dinner at Tertulia by the river. This place is a bit away from the center.
Day three - had a fun and educational Khmer cooking lessons at the Kampot Seafood & Pepper restaurant. The ladies over there were so sweet, nice and patient with me, trying to learn 3 courses. It was very well worth it.
I wish I stayed longer! Will definitely be back soon!

My stay in Kampot was nothing short of enchanting.
My stay in Kampot was nothing short of enchanting. The town exudes a romantic atmosphere, thanks to its rich French history reflected in the captivating architecture. As a photographer, I found myself captivated by the quaint streets adorned with French-inspired buildings and the iconic tuk-tuks bustling about. It felt like stepping back in time to a bygone era. The abundance of charming cafes and restaurants offered a delightful dilemma of choice, with cuisines ranging from Turkish to Khmer delights. Exploring the riverside and soaking in the vibrant energy of the town was a highlight, though I regret not having enough time to venture to Bokor Mountain. Kampot truly deserves more than just a short visit; it's a place to be savored and explored at leisure.

This is such a lovely place to visit apart from the blatant sex industry that makes much of the nighltlife seedy and uninviting. There are lots of single western middle aged men filling up the bars which made them totally unsuitable for women or couples. Otherwise there are some wonderful places to go, we found some super bars and had incredible meals at Rikitikitavi for Khmer as well as western food (we had 2 meals there, both Khmer, both wonderful) which has a lovely vibe, and Simon's, a bit like a canteen but wonderful paneer curries. Go to Epic Arts Cafe, fantastic food and a social enterprise cafe for children and young people with disabilities, it's amazing. It is clear that Kampot, and indeed Cambodia, has been hit hard by Covid and is still recovering, for example the town's museum has not reopened, so travelling here is going to help hugely, but the rubbish strewn around everywhere is unappealing. The markets are very local and a real insight into Cambodian life. We enjoyed the Kampot pepper farm expereince at La Plantation, the staff were great, it is a socially responsible venture and lunch there was incredible too. Roads are a bit hectic and in places in poor condition but you can see some investment in place for repair works. We still enjoyed exploring the area on a moped. We travelled here in comfort from Phnom Penh with Giant Ibis. We left Kampot to go to Vietnam via Ha Tien which worked well but was far more chaotic and the tiny minibus we were on was very ropey indeed! However, Kampot is an excellent base for the region, shame the train travel is so limited.

I live in Phnom Penh, so Kampot is my short break location of choice. It is just 3 hours by private taxi ($50 each way) and it is a small peaceful riverside town with many nice options for food and relaxation. Some of the hotels have pools but they tend to attract largely families with small children. There are lots of places to explore nearby and can be accessed by tuk-tuk or you can hire a moto. Definitely worth a visit if travelling Cambodia.

Great place to visit to enjoy the area surrounding it.
Great place to visit to enjoy the area surrounding it. Filled with restaurant and bars, super convenient and easy to find anywhere eat or drink for reasonable prices. We stayed centrally but suggest staying slightly farther out, as the central area is easy to walk or get to from across the river and you get more for your money slightly further out -- food and hotels. Not a good place for shopping, the night market was fairly dismal. Kampot is where to go to see wondeful natural sights, enjoy local cycling and the 'real' area, the pepper plantations, or to spring from to do a day trip to Kep.

I've been travelling to Cambodia regularly for nearly 20 years now but only in the last few have I discovered the delights of Kampot. It's a buzzing town with a much nicer atmosphere than the in-your-face brashness of (eg) Siem Reap.
Kampot has a thriving expat community and a smattering of tourists. A wide variety of Khmer and western bars, restaurants and accommodation. Take a walk round the Lotus Pond - a tranquil oasis close to the middle of town - stay until evening and the area transforms into a colourful spendour.
Kampot is a great choice for those looking for a relaxing town break in Cambodia.
We had a very pleasant stay at this hotel. It is a family run business with two very cute dogs. Everyone speaks English very well and is very polite and helpful. Ben supported us with booking massage sessions nearby, arranged transporatation and motorbike rental. With his guidance, we could make the best out of our stay (inspite of travelling during monsoon season).
Facilities are kept very clean.
Kayaks are available.
Location is quiet.
Breakfast is available with extra charge.
Everything, beautifully renovated, huge room, we had a balcony overlooking the salt workers roundabout but the room was spacious and quiet. Great Airconditioning. Generous beautifully presented breakfast. Reception helped organise our bus and ferry tickets after our stay and we were leaving for Kep, we had nearly given up that part of our trip when it got too complex. The bus also picked us up at the hotel, very grateful for that. Centrally located, short walk to the river.
A very nice and relaxing atmosphere as well as very clean property. I like that it was cooling that night and the breeze was just amazing. No doubt one of the best guesthouse I’ve been to with great price and service and believe me I’ve been to tons of places in Kampot and it’s rare to find one like this. There’s even a restaurant right next to the restaurant but unfortunately, we were already full and didn’t get to taste it but will definitely one day.
Small hotel (converted villa) located near the Salt Workers roundabout. Extensive menu with huge servings. Exceptional host William made us very welcome. Very good value compared to many of the guesthouses in Kampot. Has a generator which is an advantage as Kampot experienced several blackouts during our stay. We liked the place so much that we came back for another two nights at the end of our trip.
An exceptional hotel and very nice staff, It's just a couple of metres from the Riverside...a new hotel with an elevator, clean spacious rooms with street balcony..top floor bar overlooking Kampot and the River is beautiful at night..food was lovely...very nice central location and you can hire scooters from the hotel...The Park Inn is a little gem and well priced...definitely will stay again
We loved this hotel. The staff could not have been more friendly and keep to help us. At little notice they organised a tour of the area by TukTuk for us which was fabulous. The pool is beautiful, rooms luxurious and grounds kept in perfect condition. We had a wonderful stay and ours highly recommend to others. Fantastic value for money.
This is a 6 month old hotel so all features and facilities are very smart and new. The staff are all lovely and friendly. We particularly enjoyed speaking with Lita. We ate on the rooftop bar/restaurant both nights of our stay. This is one of the higher buildings in town so you get great views at sunset and a nice breeze.
the attention to detail in this hotel is exception. They have done an amazing job at restoring the old cinema into a beautiful and relaxing oasis in the city centre. The staff were a delight, the breakfast was heathy and plentiful and they make a mean cocktail!!! One of our favourite hotels in our 3 week stay on Cambodia.
This place is absolutely amazing. The tree houses are dreamy, the staff is extremely nice and the on-site restaurant is one of the best (if not the best) in town. They also offer tours around Kampot and Kep for very reasonable price. Do not think twice about booking.
The location was the best thing. Right in the Centre of town…not many hotels are as close as Vibola.
WiFi is very good and the room and bathroom are a good size.
And of course it has a swimming pool.
There’s a BBQ restaurant 2 doors down and a minimart next door.
The hotel is exceptionally clean especially the room as it is a new hotel. The wifi was great and the location is a bit away from the town but if we are looking at peace, then this is it. The only missing thing was the breakfast. Not much options.
We had a very nice time at The Square Kampot. The staff was caring and even arranged a driver for us. Breakfast was good and our room had a view on the mountains. Note that it is a 15min walk or a short tuk-tuk ride to the center of town.
William is a great host, very helpful and attentive. Very very quiet and safe place, even if in the center of Kampot. Food there is delicious and pretty cheap. Kids loved Netflix on a huge tv in the room, and the mini golf In the hotel.
I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the hotel. The staff were exceptionally welcoming and attentive, ensuring a comfortable and pleasant experience. The room was well-appointed, clean, and cozy, offering a great night's sleep.
We really enjoy our stay with Kampot Tropical Village our trip in Cambodia. The staff are friendly like the family and they are helpful. We love to stay here again and we will recommend our friends to stay here.
Beautiful place to stay in Kampot. The room was very specious and clean with a comfortable bed. We had a great time here. The manager and staff are very friendly and helpful.
