However, due to the harsh weather in the summer, you should consider taking a tour or travel by car or taxi, especially when traveling with elderly or young children.
From Quy Nhon City center, you need to go straight on Tran Hung Dao Street, then continue to pass Thi Nai Bridge.
This bridge is the pride of Binh Dinh people with a length of 7km.
It is recognized as the second-longest cross-sea bridge in Vietnam, connecting Quy Nhon City with Phuong Mai Peninsula.
Note: You should not increase or decrease the speed suddenly when crossing a bridge, because wind resistance can cause you to shake hands.
After crossing Thi Nai Bridge, you can continue to follow route 639 to Nhon Hoi T-junction to meet a roundabout, then turn left and go straight.
If you choose to turn left at the first roundabout, you will go on the bumpy road next to the sea. Although it gives a breathtaking view, this road can have a few dangerous slopes and challenging to ride.
Another choice is to turn left at the third roundabout, where you can drive on the highway.
You will then pass the Safari Park with a large main gate. You can stop for sightseeing or choose to go further.
c) Getting to Ky Co beach
To get to Ky Co beach, you have two options: By road or canoe.
With this option, you should stop at the Ky Co gate and purchase entrance tickets and electronic car tickets.
Option 1: If you’re not an experienced driver, you should park your bike or car at the entrance and travel to Ky Co beach by the electric vehicle of the resort. The fee is 60,000 VND per person for a round trip.
Option 2: If you’d like to enjoy the view, you can purchase the transport ticket from the electric-car stop at the top of the mountain. The fee is 40,000 VND per person for a round trip.
We decided to drive on our own to the top of the mountain instead.
Although the mountain road offered a breath-taking view, it was zigzag and steep.
Arriving at the car stop, we waited for about 5 minutes and got in the car.
If you decide to travel to Ky Co beach by boat, you must book a tour. You can read more about it in the tour section.
Ky Co entrance fee
The entrance ticket for Ky Co beach is 60,000 VND per person.
The ticket fee for the electric car is 60,000 VND if you start at the gate, or 40,000 VND if you start from the top of the mountain.
Ky Co Tour
a) A full-day tour
In this tour, you will be picked up at your hotel in Quy Nhon city. The tour usually includes a visit to other locations such as Eo Gio and Phuong Mai dune.
b) A half-day tour
With this tour, you’ll need to travel to Nhon Ly on your own by taxi or bike.
How to book the tour
When you get to Nhon Ly, you’ll see many people selling tours, or you can contact the restaurant in advance.
In Ky Co, each restaurant offers its own tour and has canoes, so buying a tour means booking with a restaurant.
The tour price is 350 ~ 380,000 VND depending on the restaurant.
What does this tour include?
This tour includes a canoe shuttle to Ky Co beach.
The tour will let you chill out here for more than 1 hour and then canoe again to the nearby Dua Island to see the coral.
Then, the canoe returns to the restaurant for lunch.
If you’d like to stay in Ky Co longer, you can choose not to go to Pineapple beach. However, remember to tell the boat guide in advance and ask for their phone number to pick up.
This is something you need to remember, especially.
It is not always possible to travel by canoes to Ky Co beach. Especially in the rainy season, the sea is very rough, so it’s almost impossible to travel by boat.
Even in the summer, the peak season, if you meet the rough seas, you will not be able to.
Therefore, remember to call or ask your hotel carefully before going.
Things to do in Ky Co
Enjoy the view
Riding a motorbike from the bottom of the mountain to the top, we could admire the entire view of the Nhon Ly commune from above.
From the pristine mountains, the vast ocean, to the beach nestled before dawn, the whole scenery was painted like a breathtaking picture by nature.
Note: This option is only available if you travel by electric car to Ky Co beach instead of a speedboat.
Visiting Ky Co beach without swimming is a huge miss.
Ky Co beach stretches like a crescent moon with three sides bordering the mountain and one side bordering the sea, located separately from the inland area.
From afar, the majestic mountains with coconut trees hanging down the sandy slopes brings a dreamy beauty while the air breeze brings salty characteristics of the sea.
However, what makes Ky Co most attractive is the color of the sea. From the coast to the shore, the seawater is divided into color bands, gradually changing from dark blue to blue and then clear emerald green.
Immerse yourself in the clear blue water and relax!
Relax on the beach
After a quick swim, we enjoyed wandering around the beach and sitting at one of the umbrella trees to enjoy a cold beer with a view.
Visiting Ky Co, you should not miss the opportunity to travel to Bai Dua to see the coral.
You can rent swimwear, diving goggles, and facedown the water to watch the colorful coral reefs with unique and beautiful shapes.
Not only can you see corals, but you can also see fish swimming in clear water.
You can also rent a boat or canoe to go fishing, squid fishing, or follow fishers to the sea to find out their daily life.
What and where to eat in Ky Co beach
Visiting Ky Co, you should not miss trying fresh seafood such as oysters, crabs, or shrimps. Trying lobsters and fish is also a great option.
Currently, if you want to eat at Ky Co, you can only eat at Ky Co’s restaurant or the beach bar, or prepare your own food.
Another option is to return to Eo Gio. There are several seafood restaurants that you can choose from.
We had drinks at the beach bar and then visited Eo Gio for dining.
